The fundamental values at KAIEM are to use materials that already exist, to have a zero waste approach and not to generate more than is necessary. And finally, to combine all these efforts in a small area like Switzerland and its borders. KAIEM is committed to adopting a practice that is conscious of its environment. This means redefining the way we consume, restoring the value of labour and the creative process. KAIEM don’t have any gendered products, they’re for anyone who wants to wear them.
The textiles are recovered in various companies in Switzerland. The textiles are high quality, mainly made for quality sportswear. They are scraps or the end of rolls. Sometimes the textiles are chosen with care and sometimes KAIEM receive packages without knowing the textiles in advance. It’s part of the game, KAIEM adapts.
Textiles and a zero waste approach dictate the design of every piece created. The patterns generate no waste, or at least as little as possible. Any scraps will be reused as the patterns are only strips and rectangles. The textiles come from Schoeller AG, Dimpora, Cilander AG, Schwob AG, Avnier, Glatz AG, Round Rivers and Skinfit (on the Austrian border).
The number of pieces depends on the textile available. Just like the size of the bags, which can vary slightly depending on the width of the fabric. Everything is designed to be adapted to the fabric. The products are limited and sometimes unique.
Since our system is based entirely on textiles, kaiem mainly produces by pre-order. This allows us to produce only what is needed, so we don’t create overproduction, which is the biggest problem in the textile industry today.
Each piece is produced locally in Switzerland or in Paris by Kim herself in her studio.
KAIEM collaborates with brands such as Inner Light by using their resources through its bags. In January, KAIEM presented its first collaboration during PFW23, a series of bags printed by Inner Light on textile scraps from Iuter, a Milanese streetwear brand. The second collaboration with Inner Light was released at the end of September 2023 in a limited series of 11 pieces. In June 2024 they released a series of bags together.

KAIEM is a garment and accessories brand founded by Kim Lissy in Switzerland.
KAIEM embodies the values of conscious consumption and waste reduction by repurposing existing materials, that’s why KAIEM opts for a zero waste approach and Swiss deadstock is the only resource used. KAIEM start from the textile, then, decide what it will be transformed into in order to respect its characteristics, as much as possible. There are only as many pieces as fabrics available. They’re always limited pieces, sometimes even unique, and we can never be sure whether we’ll find the same textiles two or three times in a row. Therefore, KAIEM only work through pre-orders.
KAIEM user seek timeless creations and willing to buy better, more consciously and sustainable. Through its clothing and bags, KAIEM wants to offer people pragmatic, subtle pieces for everyday life that will embrace the person to the point of becoming an extension of each personality that wears KAIEM.
